Half-length figure of a young woman, with a bell-shaped skirt forming the base, characterised by long, curly black hair and … Read more Half-length figure of a young woman, with a bell-shaped skirt forming the base, characterised by long, curly black hair and a relief-decorated gown, her left hand on her hip, her right hand balancing the spherical candle holders attached to the side of her hat, decorated in the same style as her gown. Design: susi singer (1891 - 1965) austrian ceramic artist, from 1905 art school for girls and women in vienna, studied at tina blau among others; 1917 joins the artist workshops of the 'wiener werkstätte'; member of 'wiener werkbund' and 'wiener frauenkunst' ('viennese women's art'); 1925 foundation of her own ceramic workshop in grünbach am schneeberg/lower austria; 1925 gold medal at the world exhibition in paris; 1937 emigration to the usa. Ww - wiener werkstätte 'vienna workshop': the 'wiener werkstätte gmbh' was a production association of visual artists. Founding members in 1903 were josef hoffmann, koloman moser and the industrialist fritz waerndorfer, who made a name for himself as an art patron. On september 2, 1905, ww signed carl otto czeschka as another designer. The role model was the british 'arts and crafts movement'. The aim of the workshop was to renew the concept of art in the field of arts and crafts. Here she worked with the vienna secession and the vienna school of applied arts. Everyday objects as well as jewelry and furniture were produced. Condition: very good - usual signs of age this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
