a rare cocoon pendant lamp designed by friedel wauer for goldkant-leuchten (friedel wauer gmbh & co. Kg), wuppertal, germany. The company was founded around 1948, originally under the name cocoon-leuchten international, and became one of the earliest pioneers of cocoon lighting technology.

this impressive pendant features 16 wave-shaped metal ribs forming an elegant sculptural frame, which has been expertly coated in the company’s signature “cocoon” resin — a technique friedel wauer developed by observing the self-wrapping behaviour of silkworms. The result is a warm, organic, softly diffused light characteristic of early cocoon lamps.

the pendant retains its original white-painted bakelite socket. The lamp has been fitted with a 150 cm cable and a new canopy.
