Egon eiermann (1904-1970) is considered one of the most important german architects and designers of the post-war modern era. He was a professor at the architecture faculty of the karlsruhe institute of technology and was responsible, among other things, for the extension to the kaiser wilhelm memorial church, the world-famous landmark of berlin. Eiermann also created numerous furniture designs, some of which are still in production today. Our "se68" chair set are originals from the early 1960s. The seat and back are made of elegant teak plywood. The base is made of black lacquered metal. At the ends are sturdy metal end caps with ball joints. This prevents the chair from wobbling on uneven surfaces. The seat shell is ergonomically shaped and therefore particularly suitable for extended periods of sitting. The "se68" chairs are in excellent condition. A professional restorer has refurbished all the wooden parts. The old varnish was carefully removed, and everything was re-stained and freshly lacquered. A few minor paint abrasions on the chair legs and some corrosion at the chair ends do not detract from the excellent overall impression. The chairs were manufactured by the company wilde+spieth. This traditional company was founded in 1831 in esslingen, southern germany, and was responsible for the production of all egon eiermann designs from 1940 onwards. Seat height 45 cm.
