The basket is made from wide and narrow bamboo strips in warm brown tones, with a subtle colour gradient from light to dark. The rim is carefully twisted and the base shows a tightly woven pattern.

This type of basket was traditionally used in Japan for carrying harvests and market goods, but it was also used by flower arrangers to present ikebana compositions.
