Designed in 1967 for Ceramica Franco Pozzi, the Sakura service by Makio Hasuike is a landmark in Italian ceramic design. The set, awarded 2nd prize at the MACEF Milano exhibition, shows Hasuike’s interest in functional innovation and sculptural clarity. Each piece is finished in a rich brick red glaze and shaped with clean, architectural lines.
The signature element of Sakura is the cup: instead of a traditional handle, Hasuike introduced an internal diaphragm that insulates the lower part of the vessel, allowing a natural, comfortable grip.
The service includes six cups with saucers, a teapot, creamer and sugar bowl. All items are preserved in excellent vintage condition, with only light superficial marks and minimal firing traces. A highly collectible ensemble for connoisseurs of mid-century Italian industrial design. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
