Vibrant, bold, and unmistakably rooted in 1980s New York modernism, this striking still life acrylic painting by listed artist Busser Howell showcases his signature use of color, structure, and expressive form. The composition blends traditional still-life elements—fruit, a patterned tureen, candlestick, and tabletop objects—with a distinctly Postmodern sensibility. Blocks of saturated red, soft pink, bright cobalt, and deep navy create a dynamic architectural backdrop, while the foreground objects are rendered with energetic brushwork and strong contrasts.
Howell’s work is known for its play between abstraction and recognizable form, and this piece is an excellent example of that tension: bold flat planes meet painterly textures, and everyday objects become sculptural through his exaggerated outlines and color choices. The painting is signed BUSSER on the lower right corner.
Presented in its original gold aluminum frame, the artwork retains its clean, gallery-style presence. A powerful decorative statement and a collectible work by a known NY artist, ideal for contemporary, eclectic, or Postmodern interiors.

BUSSER HOWELL
Busser Howell is an abstract expressionist painter and sculptor who lives and works in New York City. His painting has undergone a steady and restless evolution, from the exploration of geometrical shapes as a vocabulary for generating harmony and luminosity, to a series of tar paper and mastic aerial-view collages evoking the landscape of night bombing at the beginning of the Iraq war, to a period of more densely-textured works that were both more formal in the rectilinear division of the canvas. Originally from Ohio, Howell attended the Dayton Art Institute, Wright State University, and Boston University School of Fine art.
