A beautiful example of early Victorian English craftsmanship, this antique rosewood tea caddy dates to the mid-19th century (c. 1840) and retains all the charm and elegance collectors look for. The exterior is crafted in richly grained rosewood, warm and luminous, resting on turned ebonized feet with brass side handles.
Inside, the caddy opens to reveal its original ruched velvet lining in a deep cranberry tone—luxurious, textural, and wonderfully preserved for its age. Two rosewood tea compartments flank a hand-cut crystal sugar bowl, complete with classic 19th-century starburst and diamond motifs.
Pieces like this were central to Victorian tea service rituals, storing loose teas and sugar with pride and ceremony. Today, it’s a stunning decorative object—perfect for a bar, vanity, or entry vignette—and a rare survivor of England’s finest cabinetmaking traditions.
