This utterly rare pair of Model 121 wall lamps, designed by the legendary Gino Sarfatti and produced by Arteluce in 1946, represents an iconic moment in lighting design. As an early creation by Sarfatti, these adjustable sconces were remarkably ahead of their time, showcasing his visionary approach and mastery of functional elegance. The lamps feature an adjustable reflector mounted on a vertical rod, crafted from white lacquered metal and brass. A die cut pattern in the brass part is a nice detail, but also functional necessity to release the lights heat. Their minimalist yet striking design makes them versatile for various interiors, while their functional adjustability ensures they meet diverse lighting needs. The outer shades have been refinished to their original color and finish, maintaining their historical authenticity. The interior of the lamps and the brass elements have been preserved in their original state, showcasing a beautiful patina that reflects their age and provenance. This thoughtful preservation enhances the charm and authenticity of these rare pieces. Large in size and with the ability to adjust, these sconces emit a warm, atmospheric light, making them both functional and decorative. The brass can be polished. These Model 121 wall lamps are not only rare but also a testament to Sarfatti’s enduring influence on mid-century modern design. They are an invaluable addition to any collection or interior space seeking a touch of timeless sophistication. Literature; Gino Sarfatti 1938-1973 selected works, page 395.
