The painting depicts the dream, the ecstasy of a woman lying in the sky, surrounded by three cupids intent on tending her, while a fourth appears to be weeping in the background. A play of soft drapes in shades of green, blue, red, and yellow connects the figures in this allegory of ecstasy.

The painting has been lined, covering the apocryphal signature of Domenico Morelli at the bottom right.
