This piece is a brass plaque mounted on marble, depicting a humorous and allegorical scene: a "school of mice." estimated to date from the vintage period (1950s).

subject and style: the bas-relief plaque depicts a fantastical classroom. A mouse teacher (standing, holding a wand) teaches a class of little mouse students. The blackboard and walls are engraved with curious inscriptions ("ateneo bocciofilo\.", "mi guarda," "abc\."). A humorous and detailed scene.

material and finish: the plaque is made of solid brass with a beautiful antique gold patina.

base: the plaque is set in a solid marble (or pietra dura) base in a pinkish/beige veined color.
