Jean Vignes is a master mosaic artist with more than thirty years of experience, known for his deep understanding of materials such as marble, granite, glass, glass slabs, metals, titanium and gold. He has worked for UNESCO, restoring mosaics in Greece, Italy, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Spain and France, and has created numerous commissioned works throughout the world, including North America, Mexico, Japan, Australia and Europe. Some of his most remarkable achievements include: Major works for Gianni Versace’s mansion in Miami, where he lived for a year and a half to execute large-scale mosaics (pages 8–9). Apocalypse (550 × 300 cm) The mosaic “Apocalypse” is a monumental work measuring 550 × 300 cm, shown in the booklet with a full view and a close-up detail (page 5). The piece highlights Jean Vignes’ technical mastery: extremely precise work on color gradation, curves, and dynamic movement, particularly in the swirling blue areas evoking the sea or an energetic flow. The close-up reveals the exceptional finesse of the tesserae cutting and the control of transitions. This work is emblematic of his artistic style—large-scale, expressive, symbolically charged, and executed with demanding, fully hand-crafted techniques. Architectural and interior works: patios, floors, living spaces, bathrooms, and decorative panels (page 6). His artistic approach is defined by high aesthetic standards: working flat, precise craftsmanship, and the use of durable, authentic materials. He positions himself as a true artist rather than a simple craftsman or restorer (page 4). Throughout his career, he has worked in many countries — Greece, Turkey, Morocco, Mexico, Japan — following a tradition of “compagnonnage,” going wherever the work takes him. He now lives in France on the barge Aviso in Avignon This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
