This extraordinary seating set, consisting of two armchairs, a sofa, and an oval table, is an iconic example of innovative furniture design from the first half of the 20th century. The set was crafted by the renowned manufacturer Österreichische Pressstoff-Möbelgesellschaft and designed by architect Hans Günther Reinstein, a pioneer in utilizing new materials in furniture-making.

The armchairs and sofa are remarkable for their cylindrical shapes and the groundbreaking use of corrugated cardboard as a load-bearing structure. This revolutionary approach, first introduced by Reinstein, allowed cardboard to serve not as a cladding material but as a structural element, thanks to its exceptional stability. Reinstein secured what is likely the world’s first patent for cardboard furniture. The initial production series included chairs, sofas, tables, beds, nightstands, and more, blending aesthetics with functionality.

The set has been expertly restored with great attention to preserving its authenticity. The newly upholstered seats were crafted based on the original design, and the original lacquer has been revitalized.
