Rodrigues learned the craft from his father, the celebrated artist Zé Caboclo, who was a direct disciple of the legendary Mestre Vitalino. This piece carries a significant artistic lineage. The sculpture, in the iconic style of the region, depicts a barefoot man in traditional attire—broad straw-style hat, green shirt, and bright orange pants—carrying a small black dog in one arm and a red jug/gourd over his shoulder.
