Restored FD 146 settee by Peter Hvidt and Orla Molgaard-Nielsen, made in Denmark by France & Daverkosen and imported by John Stuart in the 1950s.
All variations of FD 146 — the lounge chair, the settee, and the sofa — are defined by their dramatically sloped arms, constructed from bent ply that is flattened on top and softly rounded on the underside.
This particular example is constructed from solid beechwood with a dark walnut finish. The cushions have been reupholstered in Calais Aloe, a soft textured weave from Thibaut.
It retains its original John Stuart medallion. The Richard Plumer placard indicates it was first sold by Richard Plumer Design, a firm whose founder was influential in the development of Miami's Design District.
