They’re called the “GoldEagle" by (American b. 1947) artist Mary K. Seyfarth. She took a plaster casting of her own feet with a 2-part process to create the beginnings of this sculpture made of ceramic. Measuring 6" High X 8.5" Long X 4" Wide. (Or, 8” narrow, (just don’t try to put them on since they aren’t a pair to wear, but instead to display in your home).
They are made of the Seyfarth’s ceramic mold of her own feet. Then she applied leather, feathers and gold paint to the ceramic cast. They are signed on the inside of one foot (which is hollow) with the artists initials, "MKS".
Seyfarth’s “FEET/FOOT” sculptures have been a significant "sideline" of her career. Apparently, the idea came from working on an archeological dig in northern Greece, after two summers, with University of Illinois scientists.
Seyfarth’s “FEET/Foot” sculptures have been made in bronze, cast iron, concrete and ceramic. Seyfarth’s sculptures are widely collected, and her “FEET” sculptures are in England, Switzerland, many states in the United State collections.
Once while being interviewed, the artist was asked; “Why feet”?. She replied; “we are all pilgrims”. “I have made many pairs of “FEET” sculptures and several “one FOOT” sculptures since 1990”. “I am not a "footie”. “I am just sincere about “FEET, but I do not take them too seriously either. Hence, they have been a successful well received form of art”.
This pair of “FEET” titled “GoldEagle" is her last pair created in a long series of sculptures and they would be perfect in your home, possibly on a set of stairs or simply sitting on a the floor in your living room. Just imagine giving them to your favorite podiatrist as a gift for helping you walk pain free.
