This substantial piece … Read more A 2011 art glass and copper canoe glass bowl sculpture by the American glass artist George Bucquet. This substantial piece is made from an elongated blue cast glass bowl and is attached to a copper keel-like accent on the underside. The underside of the bowl is signed and dated.

Bucquet began his glass studies at Seattle's Pratt Fine Arts Center and then went on to North Carolina's Penland School of Craft in 1984. He spent seven years at Penland where he eventually became an artist in residence. His works are held in the private collections of Rupert Murdoch and Bill Gates, as well as being the in the permanent collections of the Asheville Museum of Art, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Lausanne, Switzerland, the White House, among others.
