Elegant bronze sculpture depicting a roaring tiger, finely cast with detailed musculature, expressive head and naturalistic fur texture.
The animal stands in a dynamic pose on a rectangular red marble base.
By overall style, modelling and patina, this piece is very likely Japanese work from the Meiji period (late 19th century), although a precise attribution cannot be confirmed with absolute certainty.
The marble base shows small chips and light scratches, as visible in the photos, consistent with age and use.
The bronze itself is in very good condition with an attractive dark patina.
A striking example of Oriental art, with strong decorative impact, ideal for desks, consoles and collectors of Japanese Meiji bronzes.
