This piece is profoundly inspired by a particular Persian textile of the Shahsavan tribe—an antique Soumac bag originally used in nomadic daily life, brilliantly reinterpreted into a luxurious wool pile.

On the Design:

The rug is a masterful translation of a nomadic artefact into a refined modern textile. The core design is a beautiful homage to the Shahsavan tribe's signature geometry, often seen in their original Soumac flatwoven style.

The central field is dominated by a tight, dense lattice of interlocking geometric motifs—a vibrant, almost pixelated repeat of small forms in deep navy, brick red, and peach.

This central intensity is beautifully framed by a wide, contrasting border in a serene sage green/celadon hue, which features large, bold tribal figures and stylized animal motifs.

The ingenuity of this piece lies in its texture: the original bag was created using the flat, wrapping Soumac technique, and here, the design is brilliantly executed in a hand-knotted wool pile.
