Add a touch of surreal whimsy to your space with this rare vintage duck-shaped planter by renowned Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante. Crafted in his signature paper mâché technique, this piece showcases vibrant hand-painted details and imaginative stylization, blending folk tradition with surrealist flair.
Features:
- Authentic Sergio Bustamante paper mâché sculpture
- Hand-painted duck design with bold, expressive colors
- Functional planter with open bowl interior
- Whimsical and surreal styling typical of Bustamante’s early works
- A standout piece for collectors of Mexican folk art or surrealist sculpture.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. Minor wear consistent with age. There is a crack in the shellac layer, on the underside of the ducks bill. It's hard to feel if you run your nail across it, so I'm assuming its shallow. I don't think it can be seen from the front/top. There is also a pinhole spot. Those were the only issues I can find. Colors remain vivid and intact.
Bustamante’s early paper mâché pieces are highly sought after, especially animal-themed sculptures like this duck planter. Whether displayed solo or as part of a curated collection, this piece brings personality and artistic heritage to any room.
