There is nothing applied or ornamental about it, the form pared back so the material carries it.

Calacatta Viola is an Italian marble quarried in the Carrara region of Tuscany, known to Renaissance Florence as Breccia Medicea, the marble of the Medici. Across a cool white ground run veins of violet, burgundy and plum, drawn with the loose confidence of brushwork rather than the regularity of geology. Every top is cut from its own block, so no two of these Calacatta Viola marble coffee tables are quite alike.

Beneath the top, the making is all economy. Two panels of the same stone meet perpendicular and lock together into a self-supporting cross-leg base, one slotting through the other, the join left in open view as the single detail the design allows itself.

The Calacatta Viola marble coffee table asks little of a room and gives it a centre, at home in front of a sofa. Like every Lebanto piece, the Hashi is made to order in Cantù, in the historic heart of Lombardy's furniture district, from a curated material palette of full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass.
