This is by no means a flawless piece; it's a testament to time and a perfect fit for a romanticised, "miss haversham" aesthetic. The ornate sections on the outer mirror and central upper focal points are composed of plaster-on-wood, three heavy glass oval sections speak to its quality.

all three sections feature a beautiful floral and foliage relief crest detail. The central piece can be positioned to tilt up and can also be removed from the frame altogether. It would make a striking and beautifully distressed focal point on a dressing table or vanity unit.

the mirror's charm lies in its imperfections. There is a chip to the crest work on the right hand outer leaf, the plaster facia on the feet of the outer leaves have experienced some damage and have been repaired, though not with any particular attention to finesse or precision. The gold paint is worn throughout, there are some gold drips to the reverse of the mirror and the cream-painted back shows staining. The entire piece has a deliciously shabby, worn quality that tells a story. I believe this mirror was originally a french or rococo-style piece from the mid-20th century.
