This example is distinguished by its deep chocolate-brown stain and its rounded cruciform extensions, which soften the geometry while highlighting the layered relief carving characteristic of the Tramp Art tradition.

Each element of the frame has been individually chip carved and stacked to create the textured surface typical of the folk-art movement that flourished between the 1870s and the 1930s. The carving is sharp and rhythmic, with gently domed ends and stepped notches that catch the light beautifully.

The frame retains its original early surface with a warm, matte patina. It currently has no backing, making it suitable either for a small artwork, a mirror plate or as an object displayed on its own for its sculptural presence.
