"Strings" is a series of three large-scale acrylic paintings on canvas created in 2025 by Amanda Andersen, each measuring 88 x 116 cm.
Building upon the artist's intimate paper studies "Symbiotic String" from 2024, these modern works expand the original compositions into commanding presence while maintaining their essential serenity.
Minimal organic forms grow into each other with a simplicity similar to the soft shapes found in the natural world, like clustering vines and tree branches. A striking composition of two cool neutral hues is carefully formed into sinuous, soft shapes that echo the gentle contours of nature. These lines, with their graceful curves and fluid movement, entwine each other in a balanced flow of form, suggesting a harmonious relationship between opposing values of dark and light. Their intertwining asymmetric shapes create a sense of unity and cohesion, symbolizing the interconnectedness of life and the quiet beauty found in symbiotic relationships. The larger format amplifies the meditative quality of the original studies, inviting viewers into an immersive experience of interconnected forms.
Each canvas is signed on the back and arrives ready to hang on stretched canvas. The solid wood frame pictured is not included.
About the artist: Amanda Andersen has been working for over 10 years as a professional artist; working mostly in acrylic paint on canvas. Her work balances minimal compositions with bold, high-contrast patterns and vibrant colors, navigating a space between the abstract and figurative. Inspired by the rigid lines of Agnes Martin and organic forms of Eva Hesse, she also adores fantasy films, surrealism, brutalist architecture and a really smooth gradient. Her work has shown internationally, including: the Kunstraum Kreuzberg in Berlin, Tiny Creatures in Los Angeles, the National Centre for Contemporary Arts State Museum in St Petersburg. Original condition; this is a handmade artwork and all marks/ smudges are part of the artmaking process and intended to remain part of the artwork. This piece has an attribution mark,
