A rather large and unusual and rare Swedish Mid-century modern handmade candleholder, which is also a figurative abstract sculpture. It is made out of one solid piece of wood with intricate and organic shapes, with the possibility of holding two candles. Made by Swedish artist Gunnar Kanevad who worked at Gamla Linkoping, an open-air museum where Mr. Kanevad had an artisan workshop. He developed a unique form of artistry, mainly working with wood and at times with metal, which he formed into intricate and beautiful timeless shapes. This piece is constructed of pine, with a really nice color and stamped Kanevad. It is in a really good condition.
Measurements: 16cm high, 18cm wide and 5cm deep. (6.29'x7.08'x1.96') The wood is slightly uneven in some parts with some patina, yet overall, with a very smooth finish.
