Each mirror showcases the distinctive vocabulary of the Tramp Art tradition, characterised by layered chip-carved wood, rhythmic notched edges, and sculptural geometric motifs. The semi-circular crest at the top of each frame is an especially desirable feature, adding architectural balance and a strong decorative presence.

Made from individually cut and stacked wood pieces, these mirrors demonstrate meticulous craftsmanship. The deep relief carving, diamond medallions and stepped borders reflect the folk-art ingenuity that defined Tramp Art across rural Europe between the 1870s and the 1930s.

Condition:
Both mirrors are in good antique condition with age-consistent wear. As visible in the photographs, there are areas of minor loss and small historical repairs typical for Tramp Art objects of this scale and age. The carving remains strong and sharply defined, and both mirrors display beautifully. Glass appears to be later replacement.

These mirrors have a commanding presence when displayed as a pair. They work equally well hung together as a statement set or used individually. Their scale, symmetry and decorative relief make them highly collectable examples of European folk craftsmanship. See less
