Likely a prototype, it was crafted as a unique piece, possibly the only one of its kind coming from the estate of Mart van Schijndel, aquired from a friend of the designer. The table is an iconic example of van Schijndel’s design language, characterized by the distinctive geometric forms he employed in other notable works such as the Delta Vase, Slack Floor Lamp, and Bishop Table Lamp. The bases, made from folded metal pressed in triangular form and finished in a clean white paint, are unmistakably his, with their sharp, angular lines creating a dynamic contrast with the smooth, thick glass top. The glass top, though in excellent condition, does show a very small mark—expected given the table’s age—but can easily be replaced if desired. The minimalistic bases offer versatility, allowing them to be positioned in two different orientations for varied aesthetic effects.
