Jean Vollet was born in Montayral, France on June 29, 1935. He became a respected artist, known for his Pointillist and Impressionist paintings of French landscapes.
He studied at the École d’Arts Graphiques in Bordeaux, where he obtained a degree in lithography, then moved to Paris in 1962. There he devoted his time entirely to paintings and began to display his work in 1964 at the Salon des Indépendants.
His painting style is associated with impressionism and pointillism. He is known for landscapes, townscapes, use of vibrant colour, and atmospheric effects like luminous mist. His technique was precise and disciplined, but created visions of almost dream-like quality. His impressionist use of colour often imbue his works with a gentle glow of positivity. Influenced by the likes of Seurat, Renoir and Pissaro, he pursued his own style and adapted it over a long and successful career.
His works have been shown in glamourous exhibitions in cities including Paris, New York, Beverly Hills and Cannes. Vollet died in 2015, leaving a rich legacy of work that captures the beauty of the regions in which he worked.
