Print 71/99. Elio Bellora, an artist from Lucca, worked in the 1970s on a series of allegorical portraits depicting important Italian and, more often, Tuscan figures. This portrait of Garibaldi depicts him against a background of the rising sun, agaves, or palm trees, surrounded by vaguely South American figures, with seagulls flying in the sky. The Futurist style, or more generally, the avant-garde style of the early 20th century, has strong echoes in Bellora's work, as can also be seen in the other prints featured in other articles.
