The chest has a very rustic look and is full of character. It is primarily painted in a soft green color and decorated with panels bearing the name and wedding date of the previous owner (1853). The paint is quite worn, giving the whole piece an extremely decorative look. The chest is in good condition, but shows signs of use. There are a few old woodworm marks, which have of course been checked and treated. In the past, it was customary to give wedding furniture such as this to the couple as a wedding gift. This furniture was then placed in a display room on the farm, which was rarely used except for important visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. 58 cm high, 132 cm wide, 62 cm deep. See less
