This acrylic portrait presents a hybrid figure whose blue and green body echoes digital color palettes and simplified emotional codes. Mr Bubbles forms part of the ongoing You Are The One project, where Natasha Lelenco explores how contemporary identity is shaped by emoji logic, pareidolia, cute aesthetics and the visual compression of digital culture. Painted with acrylic, spray paint and Posca markers on canvas, the work depicts a single character floating between a turquoise sky and a green landscape formed by reduced organic shapes. These botanical forms, simplified almost to glyphs, reflect the project’s broader interest in how nature becomes stylized, flattened and remixed within virtual environments. The face of the character draws from emoji geometry: rounded cheeks, a small circular nose and glossy, symbolic eyes that resemble minimal emotional signs. The split body coloration evokes the chromatic fields of screens, creating a transition from cyan to saturated green. The hand gesture, forming a heart shape, references the repetitive emotional templates circulated through social media and meme culture. In this context, the figure becomes both an avatar and a clone—an affective unit shaped by the codes of digital communication. The landscape behind the character echoes pareidolic patterns central to the series. The looping green forms evoke both bushes and abstract marks, oscillating between natural reference and symbolic icon. This friction between organic motif and schematic design reflects the project’s investigation into how visual language is simplified within digital environments, turning living forms into repeatable units. By painting these nuances manually, Lelenco highlights the tension between the replicable logic of memes and the material uniqueness of painting. The work is executed on a single canvas and ships rolled in a reinforced cardboard tube, ensuring safe international transport. When stretched, the vertical composition restores the full presence of the central character and the layered landscape around it.
