Small-scale clay sculpture in acrylic explores consumption through a juice-carton object, pairing sugar and pill imagery within a snowy emotional landscape. This hand-modeled clay sculpture painted in acrylic interrogates consumption, sweetness and pharmaceutical relief by recasting a quotidian juice carton as an emblem of emotional supply and overload. Executed in a compact, freestanding format (14 x 8.5 x 6 cm), the work employs a restrained white-dominated palette that evokes winter and a snow-bound landscape while small, pill-like elements and sugary motifs puncture the surface. The combination of clay sculpture and acrylic paint produces tactile, relief-like passages where the materiality of the clay meets the flat, graphic language of commercial packaging. Vera Vizzi situates this object within a broader practice that recurrently stages avalanches, snowy terrains and tiny objects as metaphors for psychic weather and collective habits. Here the motif of the carton becomes a twofold symbol: on one level a literal container for consumable pleasure and on another a compact repository of contemporary coping strategies—sugar, medication, quick fixes—that cascade like an emotional avalanche. The juxtaposition of sugary iconography and pill forms invites readings that range from social critique to intimate psychoanalytic resonance, linking bodily appetite with mental care and cultural economies of happiness. Materials and technique are described plainly: hand-made clay (self-hardening), painted with layered acrylics and finished with a protective varnish. The small scale and portable nature of the piece allow flexible display options—shelf, console, or vitrine—where its objecthood can be read both as sculptural artifact and as narrated prop. This work repeats Vizzi’s interest in the interplay between landscape and psyche, using a wintery, snowlike field as a backdrop for contemporary anxieties shaped by consumption.
