author ferruccio rontini (florence, 1893 – 1965) was an italian painter belonging to the post-macchiaioli group. A pupil of lorenzo cecchi and active in florence between the two world wars, he was one of the leading figures of the via degli artisti group, together with soffici, rosai, and lega. His painting is distinguished by an intense and intimate vision of everyday reality: tuscan landscapes, interiors, and still lifes treated with dense chromatic material, warm tones, and deliberately subdued light. He participated in various florentine and national exhibitions, maintaining an independent position with respect to official trends. He is remembered as a lyrical and severe interpreter of the tuscan figurative tradition of the 20th century.
