author giovanni depetris (1890–1940) piedmontese painter, trained at the accademia albertina in turin, where he acquired a solid grounding in drawing and a taste for tonal balance. He exhibited regularly at the promotrice exhibitions, finding his own place in the regional figurative tradition. The core of his production is dedicated to alpine landscapes and the piedmont countryside: high-altitude meadows, mountain villages, hillside roads, clear and silent seasons. His painting maintains a calm realism, far from the picturesque and the avant-garde, with uniform light and sober tones that convey the everyday, lived-in atmosphere of the places. He remains a significant figure in piedmontese painting between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, capable of translating his connection with the territory into balanced and sincere images.
