Beautiful low Japanese tetsubin, dating to the transition from late Edo to early Meiji.
Dimensions: height 15 cm, width 22 cm, depth 15 cm.
The kettle has an elegant tapering shape and a long, slightly angular spout. Around the body a relief is cast in the iron showing a traditional pavilion with trees, which makes it a very decorative piece. The fixed arched handle is made of copper/brass and sits nicely on the body. The round copper lid has a refined flower-shaped knop.
In good decorative condition with age-related traces appropriate to the period. Perfect as a Japanese accent among ceramics or in a wabi-sabi interior.
