an extraordinary and museum-quality bauhaus-era lamp, originally designed in the late 1920s–1930s for medical light therapy (höhensonne). Produced by original hanau (ges.m.b.h., germany), this extremely rare klein-höhensonne s100 model is a true icon of early modernist industrial design.

the piece embodies core bauhaus principles—geometry, function, engineering clarity—and its pale jade-green lacquer recalls the metalwork philosophy of marianne brandt, who produced similar spherical forms and mirrored interiors within the bauhaus metal workshop.

this example has been sympathetically rewired so it may now be safely used as a standard table lamp while preserving all major original components, including the mirrored interior, hinge system, and internal plug storage.

design & features
striking pale green lacquered steel sphere, composed of two hemispheres
the sphere opens on a midline hinge, mounted to a bracketed steel support bolted to the base; this bracket also functions as a carrying handle
beautiful, authentic variation of green shades across the components—typical of early german industrial production

when opened, the sphere reveals:
• lower half: a circular mirror designed to intensify and direct the light
• upper half: an aluminium concave reflector plate that focuses and channels the beam

original internal compartment below the mirror, designed to store the wiring and plug; this feature remains intact and the original plug still fits and clips into place

wiring now exits from the back for modern usability while remaining hidden inside the sphere when stored

uses a standard e27 bulb (led, incandescent, etc.)

the original medical bulb is included as a collectible historical piece

supported by a curved steel arc rising from the circular base
