this rare trava pendant lamp is an authentic mid-century design by carl thore (pseudonym of sigurd lindkvist) for granhaga metallindustri ab, sweden.
the trava series — meaning stack — is one of carl thore’s most iconic designs. Its six stacked aluminium rings create a beautifully layered silhouette that diffuses light softly, both downward and through the gaps between the rings.
this example features a vibrant orange lacquer finish, inside and out, and retains its original “design by carl thore” label. It is fitted with an original bakelite e27 socket and a 120 cm electrical cord.

background
sigurd lindkvist (1916–1999), who designed under the name carl thore, joined granhaga metallindustri in 1961 after working for lighting company luko. He designed and sold lighting for granhaga until his retirement around 1981.
the name carl thore originated spontaneously when a client asked lindkvist for the designer’s name — he quickly offered his two middle names. From that moment, granhaga lamps proudly bore the “design by carl thore” label.
the trava series was sold widely through kf interior in sweden, philips in the netherlands, and other distributors in denmark, the uk, and south africa, making it one of the most recognizable scandinavian lighting designs of the era. This piece has an attribution mark,
