the metalarte zen table lamp is a rare and exquisite piece designed by sergi and óscar devesa in 1984. Exemplifying postmodern elegance and precision, this lamp showcases the designers’ mastery in transforming material constraints into expressive form.
cast in zamac (a zinc–aluminium alloy), the lamp’s conical body is meticulously ribbed and dissolved into fine lamellae near the top, creating a delicate interplay between light and structure. The polycarbonate diffuser softens the light, resulting in a warm, atmospheric glow that accentuates the sculptural silhouette.
originally produced by metalarte in barcelona, the zen lamp epitomizes the sophistication of spanish lighting design from the 1980s. This particular example retains its original glass diffuser, authentic manufacturer’s marking, and original box—a rare find in such excellent vintage condition.
