designed in 1962, hans j. Wegner’s the pendant is one of the most functional and sculptural scandinavian lighting designs of the 20th century. This example is a later louis poulsen production from the 1970–80s, distinguished by its white bakelite pulley case (now showing natural yellowing from age) and a metal e27 bulb socket, both typical of this later manufacturing period.

wegner conceived the lamp with a unique integrated hanging ring/handle, allowing the pendant to be raised or lowered without touching the shade. The system provides exceptional practicality over dining tables or work surfaces, offering intimate task lighting when lowered and soft ambient light when raised.

the spun aluminium shade retains its original finish, and the rise-and-fall mechanism operates smoothly. The bakelite housing shows attractive, even ageing — a characteristic patina valued in authentic vintage examples from this era.
