First introduced in 1958, the ph5 has since become an iconic piece of mid-century modern design. The purpose of the ph5 design was to provide glare-free lighting, achieved by the lampshade with several concentric shades working together to diffuse the light and prevent any harsh glare.

the lamp also features a curved, trumpet-shaped reflector, which directs light downwards, creating a soft, warm glow. Over the years, louis poulsen has produced the ph5 in various colors, with the most famous being white and later editions in blue, red, and orange. The presented one is in white and features royal blue and orange details in the construction.
