The chair is made of wood with a seat and back in cognac colored leather. The chair is in very good condition, with normal signs of age and use. In the 1950s, Pieter De Bruyne (1931-1987) joined the Belgian furniture designers who concentrated on modern social furniture . He was convinced that furniture, in addition to its aesthetic value, must be reasonably priced. His early work was characterized by rational construction and sober structures. Pieter De Bruyne was very strict and accurate, unhappy experiences with furniture manufacturers, who always changed his designs, forced him to return to one-off, handmade pieces in the 1960s. In the 1970s and 1980s he evolved to the post-modern style. Bibliography: Pieter De Bruyne (1931-1987) – Pioneer van het postmoderne , UPA, 2012, p. 38-43. See less
