Cilluffo (1955–2025), a Michigan-based artist celebrated for his maritime subjects and expressive pen-and-watercolor technique. A Detroit-area musician and artist who once performed in orchestra halls, Cilluffo brought a lyrical sense of movement and cadence to every composition.

Inspired by the J.T. Wing — the famed Belle Isle schooner that became Detroit’s Maritime Museum and a symbol of Great Lakes heritage — this limited-edition piece (No. 167/225) depicts a classic Great Lakes schooner gliding across calm waters beneath a painted sky. The work reflects the spirit of Marine City, Michigan, where Cilluffo’s maritime themes took shape and where Great Lakes history, the AYC era, and Michigan’s nautical identity converge.

Signed both within the original composition and again as part of the edition, this work remains an important tribute to regional maritime history.
