Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960, this vintage 3x9 runner is a unique mid-century piece by an Indian artist inspired by antique Savonnerie rugs—from the new unveilings in the European Collection by Rug & Kilim.
On the Design:
This runner enjoys an elegant series of floral patterns and curvaceous garlands that beautifully recapture the neoclassical and regency aesthetic. Its colors include blue and teal tones on a beige field with rich gold and brown borders. Keen eyes will further note a cream accent in the field, and admire the warm presence it lends.
This is a collectible transitional piece from its period, and in a more versatile size than most Savonnerie runners like those that inspired its creator.
Condition:
This vintage Savonnerie-style runner further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
