Well listed and famed artist Thomas W. Nason (American, 1889-1971) created this etching titled “Near Lyme Sunset”, measuring 15” X 15”, framed under glass in very good condition. And with a art size of 7” X 7”. Plus on the backside is a quote from Carl Zigosser with the inscription that in part reads; “In looking at Thomas W. Nason’s new wood engraving…” “Nason might say, is a pastoral or elegiac poet.” “This engraving is as it were, a sonnet in pictorial form.”

Clearly, the image captures a serene, rural landscape scene featuring several prominent trees and a rustic split-rail fence in the foreground, with a setting or rising sun visible on the horizon.

The artist is highly collected and his work is in many permanent museum collections. He studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His paintings are in the Smithsonian American Art Museum and too many other institutions to name.
