Small George III Mahogany Chest of Drawers with Reeded Columns, c. 1780–1800
A handsome small-scale English George III mahogany chest of drawers, dating to the late 18th century. Classic two-over-three configuration with a rich, warm surface and beautiful figuring to the mahogany top and drawer fronts.
The case is framed by elegant reeded quarter-columns with turned caps and bases, resting on bracket feet that give the chest a pleasing, grounded stance. Hand-cut dovetails to the drawers confirm period construction, and the drawers slide well for an 18th-century piece.
Later Georgian-style brass batwing pulls complement the original design nicely without overpowering the clean lines. The compact proportions make this an ideal piece for a bedroom, entry hall, living room, or as a stylish nightstand-sized chest.
A charming, honest Georgian chest—full of character, but still very usable in a modern interior.
