She began her glass career in 1978, transitioning from a background in healthcare to full-time artistry. Renowned for her dynamic fused glass pieces, Burns exhibited widely and was represented by major galleries, including Exposures International in Sedona, AZ. Her work combines bold color, graphic design, and multi-layered glass techniques, earning awards and inclusion in public and private collections nationwide.​
