Created between circa 1895 and the 1920s, this richly detailed British School work depicts two exotic tropical birds in shades of green, coral, and gold amid soft foliage.

The surface displays an authentic fine craquelure throughout, the natural result of aged oils over more than a century. The canvas is hand-tacked, not stapled, with the Winsor & Newton London stamp clearly visible on the reverse—an unmistakable hallmark of period craftsmanship.

Signed “Sally Chatterton” (artist not traced). The piece retains its original handmade wooden frame, simple yet full of character, easily enhanced with a gilt or ebonized surround for a more formal presentation.
