The Culinary Arts Institute Encyclopedic Cookbook is an iconic Mid Century cookbook - a perfect deja vu of 1950's and 1960's recipes and dining. This 974-page cookbook originally was published in 1948, and the charming illustrations are from that era. This "new, revised edition" was re-published in 1974 by Grosset & Dunlap - but there doesn't seem to be anything "new" or even vaguely 1970's about it. Edited by Ruth Berolzheimer, this voluminous cookbook has a thumb-index, just like a vintage dictionary's. Doubly charming! If you have the slightest interest in food - or even a great interest - this book will keep you entertained and educated on cooking and food prep in the MidCentury. This book is in amazing condition....looks as if it had never been used. The red cover with black polka dots and vintage graphics makes it an oustanding decorative book for the kitchen.
