The chest is beautiful and very old, which adds to its charm. It has stood the test of time, as can be seen by the hand-cut nails, warping, and natural splitting on both the vertical and horizontal surfaces due to expansion and contraction of the wood throughout the years. A wood piece was more recently added to the front of the chest for support.
