The domed verre-églomisé lid features one of the grand pavilions built for the fair, an era that introduced electric light, moving sidewalks and a new vision of modern Paris and the world.

Originally designed as a souvenir of the era, its function was to hang and display a gentleman’s pocket watch on the inside hook. The box still retains its original tufted silk interior, thick hand-cut beveled glass panels, and gilt brass Art Nouveau frame. The decorative handle, delicate feet, and intact reverse-painted scene make this an especially hard-to-find example. Handmade, France circa 1900.
