An exceptional and imposing 19th-century French Louis XV–style library table by the renowned manufacturer Poulain. The maker’s plaque, inscribed “Médaille d’Argent” (Silver Medal), indicates the firm’s award at an industrial or universal exposition—an important signal of the superior craftsmanship associated with Poulain's workshops. It is also inscribed with Poulain, 72 Rue Amelot, Paris, which indicates its location at the time.
This grand piece is fitted with three inset slabs of richly figured Saint Anne Marble, creating a striking and highly functional surface.
The mahogany frame is profusely carved in the Louis XV taste, featuring scrolling acanthus, floral motifs, and sweeping cabriole legs, each mounted with bronze ornaments. The apron is centered by an elaborate bronze cartouche depicting foliate and rocaille forms, adding grandeur and movement to the overall silhouette.
A rare blend of 19th-century Parisian craftsmanship, exhibition-level pedigree, and modern usability, this table is perfect as a statement dining table, conference table, or dramatic center table for a grand interior.
